Aba - description of the city:

Aba is a town in the south district of Nigeria. Its territory expands along the coast of the eponymous river. The city enjoys a prime location. It is at the intersection of the railway line route of Port Harcourt-Еnugu with highways.

At the site of the current town there was a village for the Ibo tribe. In the early 20th century, after the arrival of the English there was established a military point, which later rose to the center of the British colony. In 1929s Aba became a hotbed of female rebellion. Participants of the protest were extremely dissatisfied with the tax policy of the colonial authorities. As a result the mass discontent grew into a revolt against the actions of the administrations.

The modern city known for its numerous of shopping centers, as well as the famous market «Ariary». Successfully working the enterprises of production of knitwear and soap, butter and malting plants. There is an active trade in palm oil. In Aba city are existing technical and commercial schools.

Modern Aba at this stage is a main transport and manufacturing center in the south area of Nigeria. It is look not much like a traditional settlements of the country. The main reason for this lies in its unusual for these places urban population.

A huge role in the progress and prosperity of Aba the British played. Due to their participation in the city at one time the trade got successful progress.
