Antananarivo - description of the city:

Antananarivo (“city of a thousand warriors”) is the capital of Madagascar, which the locals call simply and affectionately - Tana. The city is situated at an altitude from 1240 to 1470 meters, in a valley between two hills, where low houses climb the steps of its slopes, forming a real labyrinth of alleys, arches, terraces, balconies and stairs. Here is also an international airport that receives the majority of flights from abroad.

The main attraction of the capital is a magnificent ensemble of the palaces Rova Ambohimanga: the "double palace" Manjakamiadana, the Majitsilafandzaka, the Tranavaluna, the Manampisoa and tombs of the Madagascan monarchs. And also: the presidential palace and the complex of ministerial buildings, the Palace of the Prime Minister, the National Library, the "district of channels" Antujumadinika, the Izutri Theater on the Raketamanga street, the Tsimbazaza Park with a splendid botanical garden, museums of archeology and paleontology, the colorful Besareti Garden in the Andravujangi quarter, Lake Anusi with a monument to the participants of the First World War and the Croc-Farm near the airport of Ivato.
