Dublin - description of the city:

Dublin (Irish: Baile-Atha-Cliath) is the capital of Ireland, the country's main port in the Irish Sea. It is an ancient Celtic city. Some ancient geographers keep vague information about Dublin. Currently, there are 1 million people in the capital. Shannon International Airport is a major transit point on the way from Europe to America. Main industries include machinery, shipbuilding, metalworking, food-processing, and textile and clothing industry. In Dublin, the Ireland Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Fine Arts, the University, and the Conservatory are situated. Museums of Dublin are the National Gallery and the National Museum of Science and Art. Architectural monuments consist of the Dublin Castle, the Palace of Justice (13th century), the building of the University of Trinity College, the Gothic Christ Church (11 - 13 centuries) and the Cathedral of St. Patrick (12-14 centuries), whose dean was a famous Irish satirist Jonathan Swift, the author of "Gulliver's Travels."
