Kingston - description of the city:

Kingston is the largest English-speaking city, which is located at south of Miami, on the coast of the Caribbean Sea, in Jamaica. The town lies on a vast plain on the blanks of the seventh largest natural harbor in the world. Kingston is surrounded by mountains:to the north-west of the city are the Red Hills, in the north and north-east are the Blue Mountains, in the east part is Long Mountain. Kington was founded after the devastating earthquake on the site of the old Port Royal, where pirates found their refuge in the Middle Ages.

Kingston became the capital in 1870th. Now the city is not look like the capital of the state, there are a lot of dilapidated buildings of colonial times. Tourists often briefly detained in Kingston because they attract by beaches and resorts located nearby.

The main attractions of the Jamaican capital are the National Gallery Roy West Building, where the works os local artists; sculptures of the 19th century and religious works of Maliki Reynolds; Royal House, where now is houses a museum and large number of museums, as well; the Museum of the Armed Forces, the National Museum of History, the Museum of Geology, the Museum of Archaeology, Museum of Natural History, the Museum of the Arawaks, Zoological Museum and the Bob Marley Museum. Actually, Bob Marley Museum is the most popular place among tourists in Kingston. It is a house-museum of the world famous reggae artist. Bob Marley died 36 years old, but he was popular long before his death. Here can be seen the lyrics of his songs and film about his life.

In the business center of Kingston are modern bank buildings, companies, hotels. the most fashionable street of the city is the Royal street. It concentrated the largest shops, restaurants, cinemas. There is one of the main attractions of the city- the Cathedral of St. Thomas, which was built in 1699th and rebuilt after the earthquake of 1907th.
