Lima

Lima - description of the city:

Peru's capital, Lima, is a hardly "touristic" city: here is the constant smog, accumulation of millions of people and cars, but, nevertheless, its historical center of Lima Centro with Spanish colonial mansions was declared by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage. The story goes that Lima was founded by the Spanish conquistador, Francisco Pizarro, in January 1535 as an outpost during the conquest of Peru. Five years after the founding, Lima became the capital of the Spanish colonial government, and even won the title of "beautiful, lovely, loyal city of kings." Lima saw an influx of Spanish nobility, rule of 40 Viceroys (it was called - City of Kings), and in 1821 was declared the capital of an independent Peru.

Climate in Lima:

The main feature of the climate of Lima is that, surrounded by sand and bare stones from all sides, it rarely sees direct sunlight, barely filtering through the constant haze of gray fog. Lima´s land is regularly covered by "garoua" – a spray, small and lightweight, is almost tangible. The city can’t see any rainfall for years, so all the green plantations require human assistance.

Entertainment, excursions and places of interest in Lima:

We should begin, of course, from the historical part of Lima, square Lima, which is called Old Lima - a small, well-planned, part of the city. Designed by the Spanish, the region is geometrically correct; you can check that all the streets of the Old Lima intersect at right angles. This layout is called by the locals as "Chess of Pizarro."
