The Kingdom of Spain is located in the southwest of the European continent and occupies nearly 505,000 square kilometers; is the third largest country in Europe. The south regions of the country are characterized by a Mediterranean climate with mild short winters and dry hot summers. The average rainfall ranges from 250 mm to 600 mm. The north regions of the country are characterized by oceanic climate, which is formed over the Atlantic. This area is known for its mild wet winters and warm summers. The average winter temperature is of +9, and the summer one - +18. This is the rainiest region of Spain with an annual rainfall of 800 - 1500 mm. The largest rivers of Spain are the Ebro, the Duero, the Guadalquivir, the Guadiana and the Vale.
